SOUTH LAKE TAHOE – A fatal hit and run collision between a SUV and a bicyclist resulted in the cyclist’s death. Three days later the driver turned himself in, after a description of his vehicle went out.

The incident occurred on June 26 when a dark GMC or Chevy  SUV hit the cyclist on US-50 west of the Upper Truckee River.

The lifted SUV with  aloud exhaust and over-sized tires fled the scene.

The South Lake Tahoe CHP’s Facebook page comment section names 33-year-old Trevor Bright as the victim.

Then on June 29, 33-year-old Joseph Chesler showed up at the SLTPD office. Within 45 minutes officers arrested him for the crime.

Chesler’s charges are felony hit and run and involuntary manslaughter. Five hours later officers then booked the suspect and impounded his SUV.

Bail for Chesler is $125,000.

By the way, Chesler also has a possession of narcotic substance charge from 2016.
