SAN FRANCISCO – A man committed 2 armed robberies and then the SPD arrested him, within a week.

The first armed robbery occurred on June 24 at 11:20 pm.  A man with a handgun robbed sandwich shop on the 2000 block of Van Ness Avenue.

Then, on June 27 at 7:45, someone robbed a business on the 1600 block of Vallejo Street. The store employee said “the suspect entered the business holding a gun and demanded cash.”

Investigators obtained descriptions of the suspect and his getaway vehicle.  Based on this information, they identified the suspect as 42-year-old Santa Rosa resident Jarrod Calvert.

On June 30 a Sonoma County Sheriff’s deputy took Calvert into custody.  The deputy recognized the car, through the crime bulletin, driving to a gas station.

Law enforcement impounded Calvert’s maroon Toyota minivan. He faces two counts of robbery. Although release don his own recognizance on July 3, Calvert committed “a new robbery offense.”  He returned to jail on July 9.

Finally, the investigation continues into these and possibly other incidents. The SFPD’s 24-hour tip line is (415)575-4444.
