PLACENTIA – A residential burglar showered in a home before leaving the scene.

Officers responded to the scene of a burglary-in-progress early 4th of July morning on the 1100 block of Powell. The elderly victim woke up to the sound of her upstairs’ shower water running.

The PPD Sergeant’s one-minute response harkened the arrival of additional officers who established a perimeter search of the immediate area.

The suspect was last seen on foot on the Alta Vista Golf Course. PPD announced, “The suspect was ultimately located to the front of the 7th hole off Alta Vista and detained without incident.”

Subsequently, Investigators determined that the sole elderly female homeowner was sleeping in her downstairs bedroom when Robert Jensen (39), a transient from Brawley, shook and unlocked the rear sliding door to her downstairs bedroom.

The suspect crept by the sleeping homeowner, walked upstairs, then took a shower. The homeowner awakened to the sound of the upstairs running shower. She immediately went outside to call for help.

The freshly-showered suspect left some of his clothes behind in the bathroom. He stole a jacket and a wallet, then fled the scene.

Consequently, police arrested Jensen for residential burglary and possession of stolen property.
