High school student sexually assaulted while jogging in Palo Alto

PALO ALTO – The Palo Alto Police Department is seeking a male suspect who sexually assaulted a young female high school student near a pedestrian/bicycle path that runs parallel to Arastradero Road.

While a female juvenile jogger was running in the area of Arastradero and Deer Creek, she was pulled off the side of the trail by a suspect holding a firearm to the victims head as he sexually assaulted her. According to the Palo Alto Police Department, “Detectives are actively investigating this incident and are working with the victim to get further details into what occurred.”

The victim, fearing for her life, cooperated with the suspect until he left the area. That is when the young high school teen was able to contact police around 1:47 pm on Wednesday, March 28.

According to the Palo Alto Police Department, “The victim described the suspect as a male in his thirties, possibly of Filipino descent, about 5’10” tall, wearing a black sweatshirt with a bear logo on it with a white and red border.” The suspect was also described as wearing gray sweatpants with black tennis shoes.

The Palo Alto Police Department in collaboration with the assistance of deputies from the Stanford Department of Public Safety, a canine from the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety, and a helicopter from the California Highway Patrol searched the area but were unsuccessful in locating the suspect. It is believed that he may have been parked close by to where the attack occurred.
