Vehicle Vs. Pedestrian Collision Strikes Four Juveniles

PARAMOUNT – The LACSD has announced a hearing in Compton Superior Court today for the driver of a car arrested and charged on March 19th with Felony Reckless Driving – 23104 CVC and booked at Lakewood Sheriff’s Station.

LASD and L. A. County Fire Department Engine No. 31 personnel’s response to a 3:02 p.m. Vehicle Vs. Pedestrian call encountered four juveniles laying on the sidewalk at the intersection of Downey Ave. and Rosecrans Blvd. The four anonymous youths, a male and three females, had been struck by a vehicle.

According to witnesses, a truck traveling at a high rate of speed, southbound on Downey Ave., collided with another vehicle.

Sergeant Travis Morrow added, “The truck lost control, traveled onto a sidewalk and struck the four pedestrians. The adult driver of the involved vehicle Saul Martinez (19) remained on scene. There does not appear to be any symptoms of impairment by the driver.”

The condition of the victims is unknown at this time. The booking photo of suspect Martinez is not being released.
