FREMONT // Police have announced the arrest of a 38-year-old Fresno man who allegedly burglarized three vehicles during a funeral service.

On January 22, police received word from three people who’d attended a funeral service on the 4800 block of Warm Springs Boulevard and discovered afterwards that someone appeared to have broken into their cars.

Not long after, their stolen credit cards were used at a Walmart on Osgood Road and a Target at Pacific Commons.

Investigators collected surveillance footage from multiple stores, some of which showed the suspect using the cards. Officials also utilized license plate cameras, in addition to the surveillance footage already obtained, to positively identify the suspect as 38-year-old Ahmad Samuels of of Fresno.

On February 8, Samuels was arrested at the Newpark Mall in Newark. He is charged with “multiple counts of burglary, identity theft, and unauthorized use of credit cards.”
