WILDWOOD // The Trinity County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a butane honey oil lab after an explosion triggered a structure fire on February 13th.

Just after 4 PM, dispatch received a call about an explosion and the ensuing fire on Cannon Ball Lane, to which the Hayfork Volunteer Fire Department responded and ultimately called in Trinity County Sheriff’s Deputies.

At the scene, deputies were able to identify distinct items consistent with the operation of a butane honey oil lab, at which point Narcotics Deputies secured a search warrant for the property.

During the search, deputies discovered a partially-burned honey oil lab, as well as numerous five-gallon butane bottles, over 200 isopropyl alcohol, and hundreds of small butane canisters.

Authorities also discovered over 400 marijuana plants, 989 pounds of processed marijuana, a handgun, and an isopropyl alcohol concentrated cannabis lab.

As of yet, no suspects have been connected to the fire or the lab. The case remains under investigation.
