CALEXICO – El Centro Border Patrol Agents have announced the arrest of Gregorio Olivarez-Aguilar, a citizen of Mexico who illegally entered the U.S. in the area east of Calexico Tuesday night.

A brief interview and identity search revealed that he did not possess documents to allow him to remain in the United States legally.

The following discoveries were announced, “Olivarez was arrested and subsequently convicted on July 14, 2014 in King County Washington for the kidnapping and rape of a child. Olivares was sentenced to 17 months to life in prison, with 26 to 50 months’ probation. Agents also discovered that Olivares was deported from the United States on Nov. 11, 2017.”

Olivares will remain in federal custody pending prosecution for violation of criminal law.

“The U.S. Border Patrol will do everything within its power to ensure that criminal aliens that prey on our communities are either prosecuted or removed from the United States,” said Assistant Chief Patrol Agent David S. Kim. “Cooperation with state and local law enforcement agencies helps us ensure that offenders like this face consequences when trying to return to the United States and the communities they victimized.”
