SAN JOSE — The San Jose Police Department has announced the death of a victim who was beaten by a 50-year-old suspect during an altercation between the two men.  The death comes two months after the victim, 65-year-old Baltazar Rudolph Espinoza was severely beaten by Daniel Gonzales, the boyfriend of Espinoza’s sister.  The incident was first reported in November.

“On Friday, November 10, 2017, at about 7:32 AM, San Jose police officers responded to a family disturbance in the 400 block of Buena Vista Ave,” San Jose Police Sergeant Enrique Garcia said. “Arriving officers located victim Espinoza on the ground and he was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.”  Gonzales was arrested that same day for the brutal altercation that left Espinoza critically injured.

On January 13, 2018, Espinoza passed away from his injuries.  The coroner’s report identified Espinoza had died from severe injuries he received during the beating he endured by Gonzales.  Gonzales is expected to appear in court on January 22, 2018, at 8:30 AM in Dept. 41, to now face homicide charges. Gonzales is being held on a $1,000,000 bail.
