MARYSVILLE // A man from Yuba City is in hot water with police after an investigation into a possible unlawful sexual relationship between him and a minor female with whom he worked.

The investigation began on January 3rd, after the Sutter County Probation Department notified Marysville PD of a suspected inappropriate relationship between 19-year-old Daniel Rowley and a 17-year-old girl. The victim was interviewed and alleged that multiple sexual encounters had taken place in Rowley’s car in Yuba City and Marysville back in December of 2017.

Rowley, already an actively registered sex offender, had previously served time in prison for sexual crimes against a child under 14. Additionally, he was already in custody at the Sutter County Jail for violation of his probation terms.

Detectives conducted an interview with Rowley, who initially denied but ultimately confessed to multiple counts of unlawful sex with the girl.

He is now charged with communicating with a minor for sex, sex with a minor, and sexual penetration of a minor, and is housed at the Yuba County Jail on $175,000 bond.
