BIEBER // A 23-year-old man from Redding is in custody after leaving an altercation which left 44-year-old Jesse Barry with a severe injury to his hand.

Barry had apparently been shopping in Big Valley Market when an unidentified woman began making threatening comments to his daughter. When he went out to the parking lot to find out why, he was confronted by one Brandon Rope-Leiss.

Leiss, armed with a “box cutter type knife” he’d gotten from his vehicle, confronted Barry and a scuffle began.

When all was said and done, Barry was left with a severely injured hand and Leiss had taken off with the still-unknown woman.

Lassen County Sheriff’s deputies later caught up with Leiss in Modoc County and placed him under arrest for assault with a deadly weapon and mayhem. His bail rests at $1,012,500.
