WEST HOLLYWOOD – Los Angeles County Sheriffs rushed to an “assault with a deadly weapon” call to the scene of The Kardashians’ DASH Store for a weapon-wielding reality episode yesterday afternoon.
Maricia Medrano (35) of Los Angeles had brandished a gun at the clothing store on the 8400 block of Melrose Avenue at approximately 11:32 AM. The blonde Hispanic woman wearing a bandana aimed a pistol at an employee and shouted “stay away from Cuba” as she knocked merchandise off the counter. She pointed the handgun at a second employee before exiting the store.
The suspect walked westbound on Melrose toward La Cienega Boulevard. An LASD helicopter assisted West Hollywood deputies in a thorough search of the area when the suspect dropped out of view. Witnesses described the suspect as approximately 5’10” tall, weighing at least 170 lbs.
The suspect returned to the location at approximately 1:25 PM, waving a 14″ machete, shouting threats and pacing back and forth multiple times in front of the store before wedging the weapon between the door and the doorframe. Medrano left her weapon behind and walked in the same direction as before.
LASD investigators actively searched for the armed suspect, examined security videos of the assault, and identified her. They announced, “Detectives responded to the suspect’s known residence in Los Angeles with an arrest/search warrant at 9:00 p.m. this evening. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. A search of the location was conducted and two airsoft guns were recovered. The airsoft guns were similar in appearance to the weapon possessed by the suspect during the first assault.”
Medrano was booked at West Hollywood Station for assault and criminal threat, and is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
