Early morning brawl ends in tragic death

SAN JOSE — According to the San Jose Police Department, a homicide occurred during the morning of June 10 as two individuals began fighting.

The fighting quickly escalated as a male suspect pulled out a knife and decided to settle things. According to police, “On Saturday, June 10, 2017, at approximately 9:15 AM, San Jose police officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Everglade Avenue on a report of a stabbing.”

The male victim was stabbed multiple times causing serious life-threatening injuries.  The victim was able to talk to emergency workers when they arrived in order to understand how he received his wounds.

When officers arrived, the suspect had fled the scene and an active arrest warrant for the suspect has been issued. The victim was taken to a local hospital where his severe wounds led to his death seven days later. The victim’s death now marks San Jose’s 14th homicide of the year.

The identity of the victim will not be released until the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office has confirmed his identity and notified next of kin.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Raul Martinez or Detective Brian Meeker of the San Jose Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 408-277-5283.
