Sexual Battery Arrest in Riverside

RIVERSIDE — As a woman was jogging late Monday afternoon on Mission Avenue, she was accosted by a man who was later identified as a local transient.  The suspect grabbed the woman, committing sexual battery, even as she attempted to get away — which she finally successfully did.

Another citizen took a photograph of the suspect and posted it on social media.  The victim of course called police.

A Riverside County sheriff’s deputy recognized the suspect as a local transient.

Two days later, on May 24, 29-year-old Kenneth Washington was arrested in Rubidoux, near Mission Boulevard and Mennes Avenue.

The suspect identified Washington as her attacker.  He was booked for sexual battery, false imprisonment, and parole violations.

RPD learned that Washington is a registered sex offender.
