CHICO — On April 6th at around 2:30 PM, a man called police after watching a suspect steal a package from his front doorstep in the area of Donald Drive and Keefer Road.

BCSO Deputies were able to spot the vehicle quickly, going off the detailed description provided by the victim, and conducted a stop in the area of Cohasset Road.

Officers spoke with the occupants, later identified as 41-year-old Jason Patrick Coy and 40-year-old Thomas Eli Devlin. Devlin turned out to be on Post Release Community Supervision for prior convictions, which gave cops cause to search the vehicle.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the contents of the stolen package were found.

Coy was arrested for misdemeanor petty theft and possession of stolen property and Devlin for petty theft, possession of stolen property, and probation violation.

While Coy is housed at the Butte County Jail on $6,000 bail, Devlin is being held without bail.
