Pair Arrested for Multiple Gun Charges at 7-Eleven Parking Lot

Incident occurred at this 7-Eleven

SAN RAFAEL — Two guns were found hidden underneath the carpeting inside a car, when police arrested a man on supervised probation, and a woman who was with him on March 8.

A suspicious vehicle passed a patrol car on Canal Street before it was pulled over into a 7-Eleven store parking lot located at 80 Medway. A witness had earlier reported to police seeing a man nearby who was holding a gun while possibly arguing with another man—before driving away.

An officer conducted a “high risk felony stop” and probation search, prior to arresting Dequan Hayes, of Richmond, and his companion Isabel Jocelyn Gonzales-Herrera, of Greenbrae, both 20 years old.

Hayes is charged with carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, carrying a loaded stolen firearm in public, felony possession of a firearm, exhibiting a firearm, possession of stolen property, violation of probation, and receiving stolen property.

Gonzales-Herrera is charged with exhibiting a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, felony/addict possession of a firearm, possession of a large capacity magazine, carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, carrying a loaded stolen firearm, and receiving stolen property.

The guns were found under the carpet on the passenger side of the car, where Hayes was sitting, police said. One of the guns held 14 rounds of ammunition, and the other gun had been reported stolen by the Colton Police Department.

Stolen mail, check books, and other property were also located inside a woman’s purse, and the driver Gonzales-Herrera told police she had knowledge of these items, police said.
