Drugs, a Shooting, and an Arrest

Jessie Banda

The area of Spruce Grove Road and Cantwell Ranch Road in Lower Lake was the scene of a traffic accident on Sunday night that quickly proved to be more than a mere fender bender.

When police arrived, they discovered a man had been shot.  The victim then told authorities of a car down the embankment, and that the person who had shot him was down with it.

Police spotted 27-year-old Jessie Banda of Clearlake crawling out of the car with a “metallic object” in his hand.  Banda responded to calls for him to get on the ground, discarding the object (which turned out to be a gun) as he did so.

In addition, detectives discovered nineteen pounds of marijuana in the car.

The shooting victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Banda was booked into the Lake County Correctional Facility on charges of robbery, assault with a firearm, and felon in possession of a firearm, with bail set at $100,000.
