Homicide Suspect Arrested after Drive-By Shooting

Alexander Lozano

SAN JOSE — A man wanted in a drive-by shooting that killed one man and sent another to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries has been arrested.  The San Jose Police Department has identified 19-year-old Alexander Lozano as the suspect wanted in the shooting.

According to San Jose Police Officer Albert Morales, “Suspect Lozano was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for 187 PC— Homicide and 245 PC— Assault with a Deadly Weapon.”

It was unknown what brought on the altercation between two cars driving near the 200 block of White Road in San Jose.

The San Jose Police Department and Homicide Unit responded to a call from the Regional Medical Center in which two males had entered the facility seeking help for their injuries.  However, soon after their arrival the 16-year-old victim died from his gunshot wound.

The second victim, 18, was able to escape serious injury and was treated and released several hours later.

Due to the hard work and dedication of the San Jose Homicide Unit and patrolling officers, the suspect was quickly apprehended without further incident.

According to Morales, “Officers continued to conduct follow-up investigations and identified suspect Lozano as a person involved in the shootings.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sgt. Guire or Detective Jennings of the San Jose Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 408-277-5283. Persons wishing to remain anonymous may either call the Crime Stoppers Tip Line, (408) 947-STOP (7867).
