GILROY — Police have identified the woman found dead in her temporary home in Gilroy as 60-year-old Lynn Blissard of Hollister.
Last Wednesday at around 2:17 PM, police responded to a home in the 800 block of Sorrento Drive on reports of a reckless driver. The caller initially reported that her daughter was driving recklessly, but then called back after police had cleared the area to say that her daughter had returned home.
Police returned to the residence and made contact with the woman who’d been reported, only to find that her mother had committed suicide moments before. Officers entered the home and found Blissard with a suspected gunshot wound.
Medical personnel attempted life-saving procedures, ultimately to no avail. Blissard was pronounced dead, and her death is being investigated as suspicious. A firearm was also recovered at the home.
Blissard’s daughter had been staying with her at the time. Police have not filed any charges as of yet as the investigation remains ongoing.
