Homicide Suspects Expected to Appear for San Jose Man’s Shooting Death

Heriberto Quintana and Santiago Gonzalez

SAN JOSE – On Sunday, June 5, 2016, at 2:46 PM, the San Jose Police Department responded to a call that took officers to the area of N. 26th Street and Julian Street.

During the call, witnesses reported to police that a male victim had been shot and that he was possibly dead.  When SJPD officers arrived they located a 57-year-old man by the name of Eddie Garcia Jr., and soon determined that they were now looking at a homicide scene.

Garcia had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene. During the shooting, witnesses had been able to identify several suspects who were thought to have been the shooters.

Officers learned that 18-year-old Heriberto Quintana, and 19-year-old Santiago Gonzalez had just fled the scene and were suspected of shooting and killing Garcia.

According to SJPD Officer Albert Morales, “Quintana and Gonzalez were arrested on Wednesday June 8, 2016, in San Jose. Quintana and Gonzalez were booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for murder.”

A no-bail warrant has been issued for the two suspects and are expected to appear on June 17, 2016.

Information given to officers at the time of the shooting helped to identify and capture the two suspects just days after the killing.  Garcia’s death marked San Jose’s 22nd homicide of the year.
