Burglary Suspects Arrested in Encinitas

ENCINTAS – A wanted felon and two accomplices were arrested on suspicion of burglary in Encinitas on May 25 after a chase that involved canine teams and a helicopter.

Police arrested Demorie Stanley, 23, Earl Hart, 23, and Stephen Pittman, 23 on suspicion of burglary. Stanley had two outstanding felony warrants at the time of his arrest.

The incident leading to the arrests began at 9 a.m. on May 25 near Robley Place in Cardiff. Residents told police that three man were going door-to-door asking residents strange questions, which prompted one neighbor to call police.

Residents told police the men were driving a grey Ford Taurus and a vehicle matching that description was found near Legaye Drive a few minutes later.

The subjects were seen jumping a fence in the backyard of a residence but disappeared. Police set up a perimeter and called in canine units and a helicopter to assist the search. The three men were taken into custody around 9:30 a.m.
