OILDALE — A man who led police on a motorcycle pursuit through Oildale last Thursday has been arrested, along with three of his acquaintances.

Robert Terrell Shields, 45, was booked into the Kern County Jail on several charges, including being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm/ammunition, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of sale, maintaining a residence for the purpose of distributing controlled substances, possession of stolen property, and evading a peace officer without due regard for public safety.

According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began around noon on January 21, when deputies tried to stop a motorcycle ridden by Shields in the area of Decatur Street and California Street in Oildale.

Shields did not yield, leading deputies on a high-speed pursuit that eventually ended in the 5000 block of Pierce Road when Shields dropped the motorcycle and attempted to run away on foot. After a brief chase, he was taken into custody.

“Deputies then went to Shields’s home located in the 5900 block of State Road in Oildale to serve a search warrant,” said Public Information Officer Ray Pruitt. “During their search, they found 38-year-old Sandra Leathers, 20-year-old Keith Post, and 19-year-old Kevin Post, as well as stolen loaded handgun, a large amount of methamphetamine, cash, and drug paraphernalia used for selling drugs.”

Leathers were arrested on several charges including being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm/ammunition, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of sale, maintaining a residence for the purpose of distributing controlled substances, and possession of stolen property.

Kevin Post was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant and Keith Post was arrested for violating parole.
