Three Shot, One Dies, Suspect arrested Three Days Later

KERN – Early on the morning of December 12 deputies from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Motel 6 at 8223 E. Brundage Lane after a call about a shooting that had occurred there.

A man suffering from a gunshot wound was taken to the hospital for treatment.  However, two other men had also been shot and had also “arrived at the same hospital by personal vehicle.”

Of the three victims died at the hospital. Another has “major injuries” while the third suffered only minor injuries.

Three days later the KCSO arrested 29-year-old Jose Chavez “for murder and attempted murder.”

The KCSO identified the deceased victim as 30-year-old Daniel Gil of Bakersfield.

Finally, “Anyone with additional information on this homicide is urged to call the Kern County Sheriff’s Office at 661-861-3110 or the Secret Witness Line at 661-322-4040.”
