500 area of South Rengstorff Avenue
MOUNTAIN VIEW — The Mountain View Police Department has reported the arrest of a local security guard, 31-year-old Luis Diaz, after officers responded to the 500 block of S. Rengstorff Avenue for a report of sexual battery.
According to Mountain View Police, officers arrived to find a distressed 22-year-old woman who told them that she and her friend had been driving on El Camino Real when their car broke down about 20 minutes prior. After they parked the car near a school parking lot to check the engine, a man in a security guard’s uniform pulled up in what appeared to be a patrol car.
According MPD, “A tow truck was called, and the victim and man – later identified as 31-year-old San Jose resident Luis Diaz – drove back to the woman’s residence in his security vehicle. The woman’s friend rode with the tow-truck driver.”
It was during this time that Diaz allegedly assaulted the woman.
As the investigation was underway, officers spotted a Bayside Security car in the area where the assault had occurred. Officers approached the uniformed guard walking through the complex and determined him to be the same suspect sought in connection to the assault.
During a field background check, the female victim positively identified Diaz as the man who had assaulted her. Diaz was subsequently arrested for sexual battery and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
