Sacramento Man Found Guilty of Fatal Stabbing

SACRAMENTO—A Sacramento man accused of killing his friend in early 2014 has been convicted of first-degree murder.

On Friday, October 2, a Sacramento County jury also found Dinette Patterson, 40, guilty of using a deadly weapon.

On March 7, 2014, the incident occurred after Patterson and a group of friends were playing video games and smoking marijuana at an apartment on the 5600 block of Florin Road southeast of downtown Sacramento. Officers say the complex has a history of drugs and violence.

When some of the friends left the apartment several hours later, Patterson fatally stabbed his longtime friend, Charles Jordan, 42. Authorities do not know the motive behind the attack.

Patterson then fled to San Diego, but was captured at his brother’s residence two weeks later.

He is to appear in court for sentencing on November 2 before Sacramento Superior Court judge Michael Savage.
