Man Arrested After Smashing Up Liquor Store

FRESNO – Police arrested a man for allegedly smashing up liquor bottles at his family’s store over the weekend after his relatives refused to give him more than $40.

According to the Fresno Police Department, 30-year-old Hymyar Mohamed Alkobadi stopped by his family’s store on Saturday night at Fruit and Shield Avenues to ask for food and money. Family members gave Alkobadi food and $40, but he wanted more cash, police said.

Police said that Alkobadi, who is affiliated with the Bulldog gang, began smashing liquor bottles. When his older brother tried to stop him from destroying the merchandise, Alkobadi hit him, according to authorities.

Alkobadi was out of jail on bond for possession of a gun and carrying methamphetamine, police said. He was arrested on suspicion of vandalism, battery and committing a new crime while out on bond.

Alkobadi smashed up nearly $1,000 worth of liquor bottles, police said.

Alkobadi has been busy this year, with arrests on July 20, June 1, April 23 and March 19, mostly on gun and drug charges.
