Compton Man Arrested for Multiple Drug, Driving Violations

INGLEWOOD, CA—How much can one make taking drugs into a jail when the bail is more than $100,000 and one has multiple outstanding warrants?

Michael Ramirez, 26, was popped by Inglewood police officers on Saturday, February 21 along the 4300 block of Century Boulevard, just a few short blocks west of where an 88,000-seat sports stadium is to be built. The Compton resident was charged with possession and/or attempted purchase of cocaine (11351.5HS), possession of a controlled substance for sale: phencyclidine (11378HS), possession of a controlled substance (11377(A)HS) and taking a controlled substance into a jail or prison (4573PC). He was also found to have two warrants: one from Huntington Park PD for driving with a suspended license (14601.1AVC) and one from Los Angeles PD for the same violation.

Bail for the construction worker was set at $175,000. The two suspended license warrants were the highest amounts at $40,000 each. For that much, one could buy a nice car and get a driver’s license to boot.
