Witness Tip Leads to Arrests of Taft’s Most Wanted

TAFT — Three men, two of which were already wanted by authorities, were arrested on Sunday in Taft, on various drugs charges.

Dale Knight, 29, of Maricopa and 45-year-old Johnny Strancer of Taft, were booked into the Taft Jail, while 25-year-old Michael Wells was transported and booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Central Receiving Facility in nearby Bakersfield.

Knight is being charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, and Strancer for possession of a controlled substance and for his outstanding arrest warrants.Wells is being held on his outstanding arrest warrant.

According to the authorities, the three were taken into custody after deputies responded to report of suspicious persons attempting to gain entry into vehicles in the 300-block of General Petroleum Avenue at around 3 p.m. on July 13.

Upon their arrival, deputies spotted three suspects matching the witnesses description, and after searching the suspects, found drug paraphernalia on Knight’s person, and discovered that Wells and Strancer, who was in possession of an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine, had outstanding warrants for their arrest.
