MONTCLAIR – A city located about 40 minutes west of San Bernardino suffered its first murder this year, according to Montclair authorities.
On Tuesday, the San Bernardino County Coroner’s office released the name of a 23-year-old Latino man who was discovered near some bushes shortly after 3 a.m. According to reports, multiple shots were heard at Exeter Ave. and San Bernardino St.
When officers arrived, they found a man who had suffered injuries to his upper torso. The victim, Joe L. Cisneros-Carrillo, of Montclair, was pronounced dead at the scene. A suspect is being sought.
In the early stages of the murder investigation, detectives determined that a red or burgundy-colored, two-door sports car was seen leaving the scene at a high rate of speed after the shooting. Authorities are pursuing the driver of that car as a possible suspect.
Motive has yet to be determined, according to police. Montclair, a city located within a largely populated area in Pomona Valley, has a very low crime rate, according to officials. Police said Cisneros-Carrillo’s death was the city’s first murder this year.
Montclair, located in the far western portion of San Bernardino County, is bordered by Upland and Chino, along with Los Angeles County cities Pomona and Claremont. Interstate 10 runs through the northern part of the city.
Both I-10 and the 210 freeway are direct routes to San Bernardino which, in direct contrast to Montclair’s murder reports, has suffered 31 murders in 2014. Since 2000, there have been 30 reported murders in Montclair.
