According to Roseville PD, on Tuesday, May 20, a resident responded to a CraigsList ad for a house rental in the Cherry Glen neighborhood. The resident reportedly filled out a rental application, paid an application fee and was asked for a deposit. During this time, the prospective renter reportedly become suspicious and decided to visit the house she was planning on renting. At the house, the prospective renter reportedly spoke with the resident homeowner and learned the house was being offered for sale, not for rent. The homeowner reportedly did not know the person who had advertised the home on CraigsList, and had not authorized her or anyone else to list the home as a rental.

Roseville PD then reportedly became involved in this case, and an officer investigated and found a second victim who had also filled out a rental application for the same house and paid an application fee. Officers were reportedly able to track down and arrest the suspect, later identified as Peede.
