Witness Aids Law Enforcement in Capture of Robbers

LAMONT — A pair of robbers are behind bars on Thursday thanks to a vigilant passerby.

Julian Olide, 18, of Taft and 18-year-old Danny Delk of Lamont were arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail’s Central Receiving Facility on charges of robbery and participation in a criminal street gang.

According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responding to a robbery call at a Lamont taco stand on Sunday, May 4, discovered two suspects had assaulted a man before chasing him to a nearby restaurant and stealing his cell phone.

Another citizen who was driving by saw the incident and called 911 for help.

Upon their arrival, deputies said the searched the area for the suspects, whom they later located with the help of the citizen witness who was able to positively identified both men as the offenders.
