Pleasanton Police nab holiday mail thieves

Four East Bay men are responsible for stealing mail from homes in over a dozen Bay Area cities, Pleasanton police said this weekend.

Elmer Aguilar, 18, Gustavo Rivas, 26, Ruben Ramirez, 31, and David Gonzales, 23, were arrested Friday night after a resident in Pleasanton noticed one of the men taking mail from a neighbor’s home.

The resident called police and reported seeing the thief get into a 2011 Nissan with several passengers. Pleasanton police tracked down the vehicle and arrested the men. The Nissan reportedly contained stolen mail from Pleasanton, Contra Costa county, San Mateo and about 10 more cities.

The suspects were arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property, forgery, conspiracy and drug related charges. They were booked into the Santa Rita jail.
