Carlsbad Police Make Arrest in Homicide Case

An arrest has been made regarding a homicide that occurred in a neighborhood east of El Camino Real, Carlsbad.

3550 Sierra Morena Drive

Officers were dispatched to the home of 27 year-old David Diaz’s at 3550 Sierra Morena Drive when he called 911 to report a shooting around 5:40 p.m. of Thursday evening.

When officers arrived at the residence, they found the victim shot to death in the upper part of the house. The victim was a man in his mid 20s and his identity is being held pending family notification.

Diaz was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries on his hands.

He was later taken into custody and booked into the Vista Detention Facility on charges of murder and resisting arrest.

He is being held without bail and will appear in court in Monday to be arraigned.
