K9 Thor Brings Down the Hammer

STOCKTON — Near Benjamin Holt and Grigsby Way, officers attempted a simple traffic stop. The suspect, however, wasn’t about to make it that easy.

Craig Meadows

After pulling the vehicle into a shopping center in the 3100 block of Benjamin Holt and leading officers on a short pursuit, said suspect flew out of the vehicle and struck off on foot. He then scaled a chain-link fence, dropping a loaded magazine in the midst of it all, and ran due east across Interstate 5.

The passenger, on the other hand, had been detained at the vehicle.

Dwight McCoy

Officers on the east side of I-5 were alerted by a civilian to a nearby trash can, where a man on the run had been seen disposing of a gun.

It was then that K9 unit Thor and his handler were called in, making short work of the matter — the suspect was discovered hiding under a tarp in the backyard of a home in the 6800 block of Plymouth Road.

The arrested suspects and their charges are as follows — Craig Meadows (23) on weapons and controlled substance charges, as well as suspicion of pursuit, and Dwight McCoy (23) on suspicion of parole violation.
