Suspect Arrested in Shooting Homicide

CITRUS HEIGHTS – The Citrus Heights Police Department has arrested a suspect in the shooting death of a man this past Friday, according to an official press release.

Peter Rexius, 62, reportedly surrendered to officers on the scene, was arrested and booked at the Sacramento County Jail for homicide.  On Friday, July 19, 2013, at approximately 8:30pm, officers reportedly responded to the 7600 block of Kensington Dr., regarding the report of a family disturbance and the sound of one gunshot.

Officers arrived on scene and found one adult male victim deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.  The victim was located inside a residence in the 7600 block of Kensington Dr.

The suspect, Rexius — who is reportedly the victim’s father — remained on the scene and surrendered to officers without incident.

According to the Citrus Heights P.D., the preliminary investigation indicates the shooting occurred during a verbal argument. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident is ongoing, and the victim’s information is not available for release at this time.
