Santa Maria Man Arrested for CVS Robbery

Police with the Santa Maria Police Department were able to locate and arrest a man accused of robbing a CVS Pharmacy Sunday morning through information obtained from the store’s surveillance cameras.

Joe Talaugoun

According to the police, Santa Maria resident Joe Talaugoun, 53, was arrested July 21 on suspicion of an armed robbery that allegedly occurred just after 7 a.m. that same morning.

Based on the video footage, investigators believe Talaugoun entered the CVS in the 700 block of East Main Street, brandished a gun and stole money from a cash register.

He reportedly fled on foot and left the area in a parked vehicle waiting for him. The same vehicle was spotted by police later in the day and apprehended.

Talaugoun was arrested at the scene and booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail on armed robbery charges, police said.
