Oakland Mother Arrested for Leaving 4 Month-Old Daughter in Vehicle

An Oakland woman was arrested this Wednesday in San Leandro for leaving her 4 month-old daughter in her vehicle while she went shopping.

Officers quickly dispatched to the Marina Square Shopping Center at 12:25 p.m. in the 1200 Block of Marina Boulevard when a report of an infant left in a car came in. According to the police, when officers arrived, they found the 4 month-old sitting in a child car seat. The temperature at the time that officers arrived was near 80 degrees.

Officers conducted a search of the shopping center to look for the mother and eventually found her. The woman, now identified as Robin Chan, had no logical explanation for leaving her daughter in the car unattended. She was then arrested for child neglect and transported to jail.

The 4 month-old was evaluated by medical personnel and was found to be ok. Her father was contacted by police and took custody of his daughter.
