Sac Sheriff Makes Child Porn Arrest

Detectives from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department have arrested a man in connection with the distribution of child pornography, according to an official press release.

Danny R. Smith, 50, was reportedly booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail the afternoon of Tuesday, March 26, on one felony charge resulting from an investigation. He is being held on $50,000 bail.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force had received information that Smith was trading files of child pornography via the Internet. A federal search warrant was reportedly served at Smith’s residence in the 2000 block of Bluebird Lane in Sacramento.

Detectives discovered that Smith had recently moved and tracked him to Citrus Heights, where he was reportedly taken into custody. Detectives reportedly found images of child pornography on Smith’s computer.

Detectives are asking anyone with additional information pertaining to Smith and any unlawful activity to contact the High-Tech Crimes Task Force at 916-874-3002.
