Woman Shot at Manchester Mall in Fresno

FRESNO – A woman was caught in the line of fire and took a bullet in the back at Manchester Mall Wednesday evening.

Manchester Mall

The Fresno Police Department is investigating the incident, which happened around 7:30 p.m. inside the mall located on Shields and Blackstone avenues. The shooter is still on the loose.

Investigators say the incident happened at Colima’s Barber Shop inside the mall. The gunman and one of the barbers were arguing right before the shooting happened. The man pulled out a gun and attempted to shoot the barber, but missed. Instead, his gunfire hit an innocent woman in the back.

Police say the woman was shopping at the mall with her family and was unfortunate enough to get caught in the line of fire. She suffered serious injuries and is being treated at Community Regional Medical Center.

Investigators are interviewing at least six witnesses who saw what happened. Police say most of the stores were closed, so there weren’t very many people around. Police are also reviewing security cameras in the mall to see if anything was captured on film.

After the shooting, the suspect ran out of the south doors of the mall on the Shields Avenue side, near where the carousel is located. He then ran south. The suspect has been described as an African-American man with a slim build. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Fresno police at (559) 621-7000.
