Transient Breaks into Home

San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s deputies arrested a transient after he allegedly broke into a home.

According to the sheriff’s department, they received a call last week regarding a man attempting to break into a house at a residence in Cayucos. The reporting party told the 911 operator that a man was pounding on her door.

The caller also told the 911 operator that the man was saying he had a gun. According to the sheriff’s department, the victim and two other females hid in a bedroom of the residence. She was on the phone with 911 while the incident was occurring.

The victim told deputies while she was on the phone with sheriff’s dispatch, the suspect forced his way into the home and began destroying property inside the residence.

Deputies said they arrived and found the suspect in the front yard of the residence.

According to the sheriff’s department, the suspect was Richard Lugo, 43, a transient.

According to the press release, Lugo was arrested and booked on charges of burglary and felony vandalism.
