Police Find Transient Camp on Rooftop

San Luis Obispo Police Department officers discovered a rooftop transient camp on Friday.

600 Block of Higuera Street

According to SLOPD, they received a call for service regarding a possible transient camp with subjects drinking on the rooftop of a business located on the 600 block of Higuera Street.

Police say officers found evidence of an abandoned encampment consisting of garbage and other debris on the roof of the business.

In addition to the criminal aspect of trespassing, the police have a great concern about the safety implications of this type of encampment.

Police say these encampments could lead to fire hazards and other safety concerns. Business owners and tenants are encouraged to inspect their buildings to check for any type of availability or access to their buildings.

If anyone suspects any type of encampment may be located on a business or other building, they are encouraged to contact their local police or fire department immediately.
