Duo charges $2800 at Target after thievery at Costco
San Luis Obispo police are searching for two suspects who allegedly stole a wallet out of a woman’s purse in Costco and charged $2800 fraudulently at Target in San Luis Obispo.
According to a press release from SLOPD, two suspects entered Costco about noon on January 7 and stole a wallet out of a customer’s purse. Police say the customer’s purse was in the top part of a shopping cart. The purse contained the victim’s credit and debit cards.
According to the victim, she realized the theft when she went to check out. She stated that at about the same time her credit card company called her and told her that one of her cards was just used at the Target Store in San Luis Obispo. The charge at Target was for $2800. The suspects also charged on the victim’s debit card $1800 at the Apple store
Police say Target’s security cameras videotaped the two suspects while they were in the store. The videotape also shows the suspects exiting the store right after making the fraudulent purchase.
According to police the first suspect is described as a white female or light-skinned Hispanic woman, approximately 30-35 years old, 5’6” tall and weighing about 160 pounds.
The second suspect is a white male or light-skinned Hispanic male, approximately 30-35 years old, 5’10” tall and weighing about 200 pounds
According to SLOPD, there have been several cases where purses or wallets have been stolen out of shopping carts at Costco and other stores. In these cases the victim’s credit cards were fraudulently used before the victim had knowledge of the theft or before the cards were canceled.
