Stolen vehicle recovered by Fairfield PD

Three people were detained by Fairfield police Friday in connection to a stolen Toyota Camry, but later released.

At about 5:30 p.m., a community services officer began to follow a car through downtown Fairfield after determining it to have been reported stolen out of Suisun City earlier that day. While the officer was following the vehicle and calling for backup, the occupants abandoned it.

Witnesses  told the Daily Republic they had seen two people jump out at the intersection of Delaware and Jefferson streets. They were said to have ran in different directions as the car was left running until it hit a tree on Delaware.

Three people were detained on the 500 block of Jackson, though none were arrested in connection with the stolen vehicle. Police are investigating one of the three who was wearing clothing similar to one of the occupants in the stolen vehicle.

Another 19-year-old Fairfield man, part of the three originally detained, was arrested for a misdemeanor warrant issued on account of property damage.
