Police arrest three suspects in South Sac homicide

SACRAMENTO – The Sacramento Police Department on Thursday night arrested three suspects for last year’s killing of 20-year-old Antonne Nelms.

Darrell Miller, 18, Tyvone Allen, 18, and Torrey Adams, 31, all from Sacramento, are each being charged with one count of murder and are now being held without bail at the Sacramento County Main Jail.

At about 3 p.m. on Dec. 20, 2010, police responded to a call about a shooting on Mack Road in South Sacramento and found Nelms with a gunshot wound in the neck. Sgt. Norm Leong, spokesman for the police department, said Nelms was tranported to Kaiser Permanente where he was declared dead on arrival.

Investigators believe Nelms and his friends were walking along the 5000 block of Mack Road when the suspects drove up to them and started shooting them, according to a press release. Nelms and his friends ran as the suspects shot them, but Nelms collapsed after being shot in the neck.

Evidence found at the scene led to discovering the identity of the three suspects, who were arrested at different locations late last night. Leong declined to share details about the evidence as it would affect ongoing investigation. He said police has gotten in contact with the victim’s friends who were with him when he was shot, but declined to share further information.

Motive for the killing is still unknown.

Miller, Allen and Adams are scheduled to appear in court at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Sacramento County Main  Jail Department 61.
