One in custody, two at large in Goleta stabbing

GOLETA — One man has been arrested and two others are being sought in connection to a large-scale fight that left one person with several stab wounds in Goleta last week.

A 911 call last Tuesday night brought Santa Barbara County sheriff’s units to a residential complex on Ellwood Beach Drive in Goleta, where deputies discovered substantial amounts of blood on the sidewalk leading to the apartment units.

Within 30 minutes of arriving, deputies were dispatched to Goleta Valley Hospital to investigate a report detailing an emergency room patient bearing several deep lacerations. “Deputies interviewed a reluctant 25-year-old victim, who gave them limited descriptions for us to work on,” said sheriff’s spokesman Drew Sugars.

After interviews of local area residents the following day, an arrest was made of Rudy Myers, 28, on suspicion of involvement in a large-scale fight leading to the stabbing.  Myers was booked Sept. 16 on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon, while two additional suspects — Michael Joseph Rivera, 30, and Philip Childers, 25, reputed to be driving a silver 2006 Toyota 4Runner bearing Nevada license plate 816WMH — are being sought by authorities in connection with the assault.
