“Survivor” producer held up in Mexico following wife’s murder

An arrest could come soon in the case of a Rancho Palos Verdes TV producer who Mexican officials believe may have killed his wife and dumped her body in a sewer near a  popular Cancun resort.

Bruce Beresford-Redman, known in Hollywood for his work on “Survivor” and “Pimp My Ride,” remains out of custody but under orders to stay in Mexico while officials conduct a  forensic examination of his late wife Monica’s body.

The examination is 80 percent complete, according to a Mexican official to spoke to U.S. reporters.

Relatives of the victim say they have turned over evidence — “a series of exchanges” between husband and wife — to the Mexican authorities that will result in justice for their murdered sister/daughter.

Mexican officials did not release the contents of the documents due to the ongoing status of the investigation.

However, Beresford-Redman’s sister, Jeane Burgos, told reporters she was “happy with the work authorities are doing to get justice for my sister.”

Monica Beresford-Redman’s body remains in Mexico while experts run tests to determine or rule out a connection to the Los Angeles producer. Rodolfo Garcia Pliego, the assistant attorney general of the Caribbean coast state of Quintana Roo, requested the body be released to the relatives, noting that the husband has not made any such request.

While Beresford-Redman has not denied or confirmed reports he was involved in a long-term affair, the victim’s sisters say the Mexico trip was a last attempt to save a crumbling marriage.

A memorial fund for Monica Burgos Beresford-Redman has been set up online and can be found at: www.monicaburgosmemorialfund.com.
