Weekend shooting leaves Sacto man dead, open investigation

SACRAMENTO — Police is investigating an overnight shooting that left a man dead early Saturday morning.

At 1:33 a.m. Saturday, police officers responded to the area of Dixieanne Avenue and Cambridge Street regarding a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, officers located a man lying on the front yard of a nearby residence suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the upper body. The Sacramento Fire Department declared the victim dead at the scene. The identity of the victim is not being released at this time and is pending notification to his family. He is a Sacramento resident and is only being identified as a white male in his 30s.

Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances that lead up to this deadly shooting. So far, the investigation has revealed that the victim may have been involved in a dispute with several subjects just prior to the shooting. At this time, suspect information has not been established.
