Rebuffed party crashers respond with drive-by

ELK GROVE — Two unsuccessful party crashers are in jail after indiscriminately spraying the house from which they were rebuffed in a drive-by Friday night.

The two males, Steven Brown of Elk Grove and an unnamed 17-year-old accomplice from Sacramento, had attempted to gain entry to a house party on the 8300 block of Caldicot Drive and, after being sent away cruised by in their vehicle and fired shots into a group of people standing outside the residence.

Sacramento resident Andrew Tapalla was treated at Methodist Hospital for a gunshot wound to the buttock. No one else was reported injured in the shooting.

Elk Grove police stopped the suspects’ vehicle as it sped away from the area of the shooting. During the pat-down of Brown, a small caliber handgun fell out of his pant leg onto the ground.
