Rash of burglaries sweeps through Sacramento neighborhoods

SACRAMENTO — The Sacramento neighborhoods of Pocket and Greenhaven have suffered 15 residential burglaries in a span of six days, police reported Thursday.

In a release, the Sacramento Police Department said it has responded to the rash of burglaries by deploying additional resources in the affected neighborhoods. Police are also asking for community support, saying recent burglary arrests have been a direct result of residents calling in and reporting activity that they feel is suspicious in nature.

The suspect or suspects in the Pocket and Greenhaven crimes have primarily gained access to homes through side garage doors. In a few cases, windows were the entry points. The burglaries occurred between Oct. 27 and Nov. 2 from 6:30 a.m. to as late as 10:40 p.m.

In two of the burglaries, a suspect was seen and described as dark-skinned black male of about 17. He is said to be about 5’10”, 200 pounds, with a skinny build.
