Accused predator found victim through social networking site

ELK GROVE — Elk Grove police arrested a 31-year-old Sacramento man for sexually assaulting a boy more than 15 years his junior.

Charles Licop had reportedly established contact with the 13-year-old high school student through a social networking site, according to a release from the Elk Grove Police Department.

It was through the site that Licop arranged to pick up the victim after school ended at the juvenile’s Sacramento campus last Wednesday afternoon. Licop then drove the victim to a former residence that was now vacant in Elk Grove, where the assault occurred. Licop then drove the 13-year-old victim back to school and dropped him off.

The victim later reported the crime to local law enforcement. Licop was taken into custody in Sacramento and is currently in custody at the Sacramento County Main Jail. Licop is being held on charges of lewd or lascivious acts with a child and sodomy of a child under 14.

Anyone with information regarding this crime or knowledge of additional victims should call the Elk Grove Police Department Detective Bureau at (916) 478-8060.
